BVCA Statement of Faith

  1. We believe the Scriptures in their original form were verbally inspired of God and are the supreme and final authority in faith and conduct—II Timothy 3:16

  2. We believe in one God, eternally existent in Three Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in perfection, harmonious in function—I John 5:4-6

  3. We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, His deity, His sinlessness, His cleansing blood, bodily resurrection, ascension and High Priestly ministry; that He is personally coming again and that His return is imminent. Luke 2:26-35; I Peter 2:21-24; John 3:16; I Corinthians 15:3; Luke 24:1-7; Luke 24:51; Hebrews 7:24-27; Acts 1:11

  4. We believe the Holy Spirit is a person and that He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment to come; that He regenerates and indwells, sanctifies and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior, and seals them unto the day of redemption. John 16:8-11; John 3:3,5,8; Romans 8:11; Romans 15:16; John 14:16-26; II Corinthians 1:22

  5. We believe that man, created in the image of God, sinned, and has thus incurred the wrath of God and is possessed with a sinful nature. It is necessary, therefore, for a man to be born again through acceptance of Jesus Christ as personal Savior. Those who accept are saved unto eternal life; those who reject are lost unto eternal damnation. Genesis 9:6; Genesis 3:1-3; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1; John 5:24, 28-29

  6. We believe that the church is a living, spiritual body of regenerated and baptized believers who are associated together for the carrying on of the gospel ministry.

  7. We believe that Jesus Christ instituted the Lord’s Supper to commemorate His death until He comes again. Another ordinance is water baptism (immersion), which portrays the believer’s union with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. Matthew 28:19; I Corinthians 11:23-29

  8. We believe that Satan is a fallen angel, a personal being, the god of this age, the adversary of Christ, and shall be ultimately subdued by Christ. Isaiah 14:12; Revelation 20:10; Job 1:6-7; I Peter 5:8; II Corinthians 4:4

  9. We believe that every believer is called to a life of separation from the world, avoiding all appearance of evil. John 15:19; Romans 12:1-2; Titus 2:12; James 1:27; I Thessalonians 5:22
